HOMESICK AND HOMEFOLK

FEBRUARY 24, 2012
HOMESICK AND HOMEFOLK

Have you ever been away from home, family and friends? When you are in a foreign land you can have spells of homesickness. Then, after weeks of separation from all that is familiar and precious, you receive a letter from a loved one, or special cookies in a "care package," or a person from "back home" (even a stranger) visits, and your heart is warmed and your spirit is lifted. There is even more comfort and encouragement when you live among like minded fellow sojourners.

God has given us the Church (the local body of believers), to ease the pain of, "Homesickness." When the fellowship is vibrant and constant, it is like heaven on earth.

SCHEDULING FOR SUCCESS (3/1/12)
Sometimes we are not able to get together with our local church for worship, study, fellowship and ministry, because of sickness, uncontrollable events or travel. This is why we need to make every effort possible to gather when we can, with an eager, submissive and loving spirit. We need to avail ourselves of every opportunity to obtain all we can from God when the body gathers. We need it, others are depending on us and God is worthy of our best.

We should align our week and set our schedule in order to give our full attention to the services we attend. Worship, study, fellowship and ministry times should be given highest priority, since God has arranged these times for us to praise, learn, grow and serve. Be on time, be alert, be hungry for His word, be submissive, be eager. Come with open head, heart and hands and all the more as the day of His return approach (He. 10:25).

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS
A friend recently was singing the praises of TV evangelists and the service they provide to shut-ins. What a shame, what an indictment, that a church would neglect or abandon its own people, who are incapacitated, and give them into the hands of strangers.

The Church not only provides the atmosphere for Christians to grow in grace and knowledge, it also provides service to people in need, like people who are shut in and the elderly. It is a shame when a church neglects the needy and shuns its responsibility to do the work God called it to do.

WHY THE FIRE?

FEBRUARY 26, 2012
WHY THE FIRE?

CONFLAGRATION

Recently, while I was teaching about the coming conflagration, I was asked, "Why will the world be destroyed by fire?" One of the thoughts that has come to my mind is the problem of vermin and pestilence. God will cleanse the universe with fire, so that the New Heaven and New Earth will be without any creatures that thrive on, and contribute to death and decay, along with all bacteria, viral infection and all other effects of sin.

SCRIPTURE... (especially vss. 7, 10-13, 17-18)

2 Peter 3:7-18
(7) But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
(8) But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
(9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
(10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
(11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
(12) Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
(13) Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
(14) Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
(15) And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
(16) As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
(17) Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
(18) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

CHILDREN ARE A TREASURE

FEBRUARY 25 & 27, 2012
CHILDREN ARE A TREASURE

CHILDREN ARE A TREASURE (2/27/12)
The majority of people have been given a treasure, greater than pleasure and beyond measure. Though it demands great care, time and sacrifice, the return is of infinite value. God gives children to parents, to raise them for Him, to teach them about Him, to lead them to Him. Sadly, very few children get the needed investment from their parents. Children are often left to blaze their own trail, but they usually follow other young people who are confused and lost. When parents do offer guidance, it is usually away from a life that is consistent with Biblical godliness. How sad to throw away such a treasure. It can be eternally sad.

OFFEND NOT THE CHILDREN (2/25/12)
One of the beautiful facets of childhood is their innocence. I realize they are born with a sinful nature, but they have not been exposed to the harsh and polluting influences of a sinful culture. They love, trust, confide and inquire with a less cynical and more honest intent. Woe to those who introduce them to "the real world" by violating them, physically, morally, mentally, spiritually or relationally. The best environment for children is a holiness home and church.

PASSAGE...
Matthew 18:3-7

(3) And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
(4) Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
(5) And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
(6) But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
(7) Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

THOUGHTS ON SANCTIFICATION

FEBRUARY 22, 27 AND MARCH 3, 2012
THOUGHTS ON SANCTIFICATION
This is a compilation of thoughts I posted concerning Entire Sanctification.

PURITY, TRUE AND FALSE... (3/3/12)
Do not be robbed of true PURITY of heart and life, just because there is a false form of purity. After all, you would not trash a true treasure just because it has been counterfeited.

Purity Of Heart Required And Provided
There is a Purity of heart that God provides to those who trust Christ. True purity is provided by the gracious work of God's salvation, through Christ. In fact it is a purity of heart that is required if we want to spend eternity with God. I will share a few verses from the Bible that address this subject.

Required
Psalms 24:3-5
(3) Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
(4) He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
(5) He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Provided
Acts 15:8-9
(8) And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
(9) And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

FALSE PURITY
But first let me mention that there are people who who have the false hope that they can have a right relationship with God, based either on the erroneous belief that they are inherently good or on the false notion that works of righteousness can make them acceptable to God. The fact that there is a false purity of heart does not mean there is not a true purity of heart.
Proverbs 30:12
(12) There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

Erroneous Belief In Inherent Goodness
1 John 1:8
(8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

False Notion Of Self Righteous Works
Proverbs 20:9
(9) Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

TRUE PURITY (Redemptive Work Of Salvation)
However, there is a purity (holiness, righteousness, perfection) that God provides for those who trust Christ to deliver them from all sin. God has spoken of this atonement purity in several places. Notice that these verses address the question of, "Purity." There are other verses that address, Holiness, Righteousness, Perfection.

Old Testament
Psalms 18:26
(26) With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

Psalms 73:1
(1) ...Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. (Same Hebrew word as found in Ps. 24:4).

Proverbs 15:26
(26) The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

New Testament
Matthew 5:8
(8) Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

John 15:2
(2) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

1 Timothy 1:5
(5) Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

2 Timothy 2:22
(22) Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Titus 2:14
(14) Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

James 4:8
(8) Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

1 Peter 1:22
(22) Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

1 John 3:3
(3) And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

I realize there are renowned Christian teachers that deny personal purity for believers. They offer long explanations on why these verses do not mean what they say. I have not taken the time to explain God's word. However, if you are confused by the teachings of men on this issue, I will be glad to share with you why God meant what he said.

ARGUE OR ACCEPT... (2/22/12)
I have been reading what some well known apologists, theologians and other Christian leaders have written against the doctrine of holiness (purity) of heart (Entire Sanctification) and holiness of life (Abiding and Walking In the Spirit). It is sad, because they build their arguments against non issues and they lead people away from the "fullness of the blessing" and the "fullness of God." Just as there are false claims and claimants to justification, there are false claims and claimants to holiness of heart and life, but the false does not negate the true. Sadly, most people would rather fight against this doctrine than honestly investigate it.

WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART... (2/27/12)
So, would you rather have God actually deliver you from all sin in this present world or would you rather God unilaterally elect you unconditionally to salvation? Your preference will not influence God's way of salvation, but it will tell something about your own heart. If you would rather be delivered from all sin than be unconditionally elect, then God has Good News for you.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OPPORTUNITIES

FEBRUARY 22, 2012
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OPPORTUNITIES

Life Is Fleeting
I woke up and discovered my FaceBook account was down for maintenance. I really like my various internet opportunities to stay in touch with friends and to share God's unsearchable truths with folks.

Just like the internet, real life can take a turn that limits our opportunities. In a moment, or overnight, or during the busy-ness of the day we can lose a friend or loved one, or an acquaintance and never have another opportunity to communicate with him again. Broken communications can come because of a geographical move, a change in relationship, a change in our access to the internet or death can terminate a relationship. We err when we take our opportunities and relationships for granted. We must Redeem the time, while we have open doors of opportunity to be instant in season and out of season.

Redeem the Time
Ephesians 5:16-17
(16) Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
(17) Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Colossians 4:5-6
(5) Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
(6) Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Open Door
Colossians 4:3
(3) Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:

Instant In Season, Out Of Season
2 Timothy 4:1-4
(1) I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
(2) Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
(3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
(4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

TWO OBSERVATIONS

FEBRUARY 21, 2012
TWO OBSERVATIONS

#1 Few Seek Spiritual Success
While there are only a few people who pursue excellence in sports, business, physical fitness, performing arts, academia, there are almost none who commit themselves to spiritual excellence.

#2 Minor Investments
Many who have potential for greatness (in any arena) settle for natural attainment (reaching only mediocrity), rather than sacrifice for greatness.

The Tragic Result: Few Champions for Christ

‎1 TIMOTHY 4:8
8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

SPIRITUALLY MINDED
One reason it is important to be spiritually minded is because the things (truths, revelations, secrets) of God are spiritually discerned. Therefore, if we are not spiritually minded we cannot receive, understand, appropriate the word of God, the ways of God and the will of God. This kind of ignorance renders us to be less fortunate than a microbe, for a microbe exists for a moment and is gone, forever; but a person with no spiritual understanding, suffers eternally without God.

SPIRITUALLY MINDED OR MATERIALLY MINDED
Are You Spiritually Minded (regenerated by the Holy Spirit) Or Carnally Minded (focused on the sensual, material world)? (See especially vss. 6, 8, 9, 13, 14).

PASSAGES...
Romans 8:4-16
(4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
(5) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
(6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
(7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
(8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
(9) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
(10) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
(11) But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
(12) Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
(13) For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
(14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
(15) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
(16) The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

YOUR CHOICE
Are You A "Natural Man" (an unsaved person); Or A Spiritual Man (a person with the mind of Christ)? (espicially vss. 12, 14, 16).

1 Corinthians 2:12-16
(12) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
(13) Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
(14) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
(15) But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
(16) For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

AN EMPTY VICTORY

FEBRUARY 20, 2012
AN EMPTY VICTORY

AND THE WINNER IS...
The nominations are all in and the final candidate has been chosen. They come to the competition with votes of confidence from friends and loved ones. It is not their looks, or talent or intelligence or social accomplishments, but their winsome personalities that put them in line to be crowned as the warmest, happiest, most exciting, friendliest person to ever go to hell.

A LOSER!
Remember, it is not what others think of us that matters, it is whether we are saved from sin by the blood of Jesus. Pride robs the sinner of the real crowns of value and there is no joy in hell.

A LOST LOVED ONE
I had a relative who thought he would shock me by boldly saying he wanted to go to hell because all his friends would be there. I told him that when he found himself in hell he would not be laughing. His love of sin and pride would take him to eternal judgment, regardless of his otherwise positive traits.

CHURCH/STATE PRINCIPLES

FEBRUARY 20-MARCH 4, 2012
CHURCH/STATE PRINCIPLES

Between February 20 and March 4 I posted several thoughts concerning the relationship of the Church to the State. Here is a compilation those thoughts.

MISDIRECTED APOLOGIES
The USA burned Korans in Afghanistan, by accident, and apologized to Afghanistan. The US Army burned Holy Bibles in Afghanistan INTENTIONALLY, and there was no apology. As I have listened to the media address this problem, it seems that they have forgotten the burning of Holy Bibles. This is because the government and the media are both deceived and deceiving. That is right, you cannot trust either the government or the media. The only hope for truth is in the Bible. Better find a Bible preacher and Bible Church while you can.

This reminds me of the old church song that says, "I don't feel at home in this world anymore." It has always been this way for believers, to one extent or the other. If Christians were less focused on trying to make this world into heaven, and more focused on making heaven their home, we would see more of the power of love and less of the love of power.

USA, MOVING AWAY
The USA was never a Theocratic State and it was never fully Christian, therefore the USA was never perfect, but the USA was in a better position to receive the blessings of God's protection and provision. The USA has been moving further from God in recent decades and it is shifting into a higher gear of rebellion now. The more the USA turns against God's authority, the more it will come under the judgment of God. As long as the United States honored the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the Apostles and the Prophets of the New Testament, the more of God's power and provision the United States experienced.

FOUNDATION OF MORALITY AND CIVILITY
How strange, people say we should not base our laws on religious tenets. So where do they think, "Thou shalt not kill... steal... bear false witness," came from? We should not let Rome or any other man made religious group determine our laws, but we should accept the moral code of God as being authoritative. Of course, the further our society moves from the God of the Bible, the less respect it will have for the Bible, and the more God's people will be oppressed and persecuted for following the Bible.

PASSAGES...
2 Timothy 3:12-17

(12) Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
(13) But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
(14) But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
(15) And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
(16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
(17) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Titus 2:11-15
(11) For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
(12) Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
(13) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
(14) Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
(15) These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

AUTHORITY TO PROTECT AND PUNISH
God has given the Sword (authority) to the State, to punish the wicked and praise (and protect) the righteous. Remember, the Bible recognizes only Christians (those who believe the Bible, are born of the Spirit, and trust and follow Jesus) to be righteous. A "government" that does not praise (and protect) Christians and others who submit to the legitimate authority of the State is the enemy of God. This is not my opinion, this is the revealed word of God.

PASSAGES...
God Has Given The State The Right To Punish The Wicked And Praise (And Protect) The Righteous.
Romans 13:1-4
(1) Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
(2) Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
(3) For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
(4) For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

1 Peter 2:13-14
(13) Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
(14) Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

Christians Are The Righteous
Romans 5:17-21

(17) For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
(18) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
(19) For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
(20) Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
(21) That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Peter 3:12-17
(12) For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
(13) And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
(14) But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
(15) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
(16) Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
(17) For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

THE NEED TO RECOVER BIBLICAL TRUTH
Contrary to popular religious perception, the Bible was never lost, but the Church did lose touch with the Bible during the rise and reign of the Roman religion. From the time of the Reformation, eternal truths have been rediscovered through Bible study and submission to the Holy Spirit, including subjects such as; Justification, Faith, Sanctification, Soteriology, Hamartiology, Revelation, Inspiration, Enlightenment, Christology, Theology, Pneumatology, Missiology, Ecclesiology, Eschatology. A missing part of most churches today is a Biblical understanding of God's View of Church/State Relations and the Divine Origin of Human Government's Authority and Limitations. This is playing a major part in the Western/Modern Church selling its Birthright and losing its Light.

It would be a good idea to read, understand and believe Romans 13. It would not be a good idea to let the average "Christian" preacher or teacher explain it to you, since they have no idea what it actually says, much less what it means. Romans 13 is not a blank check that gives political movements authority over the people. Romans 13 demands everyone to submit to God's rule. Those who do not, are anarchist, even if they hold the office of President.

A SHORT STUDY IN CHRUCH/STATE RELATIONS FROM ROMANS 13:1-4
Romans 13:1-4
(1) Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. (2) Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. (3) For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: (4) For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Verse by Verse
(1) Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
DLG note... "Every soul" means EVERY PERSON, no exceptions.

Not only are the subjects of a nation subject to the laws of the land, the leaders of the nation are subject to the higher power as well (including kings, premiers, presidents). "Higher power" begins with the power of God, which is the fountain head of all authority and rules over the power (authority) of human rulers. God has commissioned human authority (government).

Remember, Jesus declared that He had the authority of God to forgive sins and to perform miracles. He also said clearly that He had all authority in heaven and earth. All human authority is derived from the eternal, heavenly authority of God. Therefore, everyone, rulers included, must submit to the higher powers.

(2) Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
DLG note... Again we are told that EVERYONE is subject to authority, because, all legitimate authority is Divine authority. God ordains authority (government), but He does not ordain illegitimate, godless laws. Those in authority are servants of God, appointed to do the work of God. When a ruler abuses his authority by installing and enforcing a law that is contrary to the will and nature of God, that ruler has resisted the authority of God and will be judged by God.Though God sometimes employes wicked men to accomplish His purpose (to either afflict the wicked or assist the righteous) it does not mean that wicked men or laws are the legitimate, God ordained governments.

When a human "government" is established on anti-Christian principles, such as an Islamic nation (which makes Christianity illegal), that so-called government is not legal before God. When a human ruler or leader adds anti-Christian laws to a legitimate constitution, such as abortion or the burning of the Bible, that ruler or leader has made himself the enemy of God. God requires submission to legitimate laws and civil order, He does not allow submission to the rule of anarchy. Christians citizens may suffer under rogue rulers, but they should never follow rogue rulers.

While Christians are REQUIRED to obey legitimate authority, just laws, even when the ruler himself is immoral, Christians are not ALLOWED to obey, submit to or support laws that are contrary to the will and nature of God. In cases like this, it is better to obey God, rather than men (Ac. 5:29).

(3) For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
DLG note... The fact that a ruler is not a terror to "good works," or to those who do good works, indicates that either the ruler or the laws he enforces are approved by God. Legitimate authority praises, protects, serves the person who does the will of God. God does not appoint or approve wicked rulers or rules, though He may use them as tools to judge the wicked, as in the Old Testament when God used the heathen to judge rebellious Israel.

(4) For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
DLG note... The ruler and the rules of Divinely ordained governments are ministers of God to do His bidding. Legitimate, God ordained government forbids and punishes wickedness, either through the police or through the military. The police and military are State responsibilities, ordained of God to protect the law abiding and punish the evil. The police and the military are legitimate only when they protect the righteous and punish the wicked.

Evil people fear legitimate government. When the wicked control the "government" such as American politicians allowing organized crime, oppressive organizations and Islamic leaders, to control them, then the "government" is in anarchy against God. The abuse of authority is anarchy. Obedience to godless rule is anarchy. We cannot blame another person for our own actions. We are required to obey legitimate authority, we are not allowed to obey godless leadership.

God has given the power of the "sword" to the State, not to the Church. The "sword" represents the power to punish the wicked and protect the righteous. It is not complicated. The weapons of the Church are not carnal, fleshly, material, temporal, but our weapons are spiritual (2 Co. 10:3-4). The weapon of the State is the sword of steel, while the weapon of the Church is the sword of the Spirit (Ep. 6:17). A God approved government is one that physically and legally protects people who are doing good and punishes those who propagate evil (1 Pe. 2:13-15). Since this is God's decree then the standard of good and evil is determined by Divine revelation, not by human fiat or demonic intent.

To stand against duly authorized government is to stand against God. To stand with those who are rebellious to God, though they are "government" officials, is to stand against God.

BEWARE THE HYPE

FEBRUARY 18, 2012
BEWARE THE HYPE

How sad that sinning religion is being paraded before the world as Christianity. If there is one thing you learn from the way funerals are preached, no one goes to hell. The truth is, no one needs to go to hell, but the life of sin terminates in hell. Turn, trust and follow Jesus.

Sinning religion gives a pass to sinners, to sin.

The preacher cannot preach a sinner into heaven or a saint into hell, and he should not try. The funeral is an opportunity to encourage the family and show them the only way to heaven is a living faith in Jesus Christ.

I wrote this in response to the hype surrounding the death and funeral of Whitney Houston. Miss Houston had been raised in the church, which gave rise to everyone at her funeral speaking as if she was now singing in heaven's choir. I don't know the spiritual condition of Miss Houston at the moment of her death, so I do not know her eternal destiny. However, she lived her life in resistance to the Lordship of Christ and her life became a sad story of abuse and addiction. In other words, she was not a Christian during her life and therefore did not have the promise of eternal life.

Just today (March 4th, 2012) I was reading a post by my son, recollecting what John Lennon had said in 1966, concerning the Beatles being more popular than Jesus Christ. David went on to point out that a billion people will gather today (2012) to worship Christ, but John Lennon is still dead, having been killed by one of his fans. David pointed out that Lennon does not have to imagine what waits beyond the grave.

Someone responded to David's post by saying J. Lennon did not say he was better or superior to Christ; Lennon was only making comment on pop culture and religion.

I then said; since J. L. continued to reject Jesus Christ, he actually did think he was better than and superior to Christ.

The person then said she did not know if J. L. loved Christ or not.

This brings me back to this article. Yes, we can tell if a person loves Jesus or not. Jesus said, if you love me you will keep my commandments. Since John Lennon and Whitney Houston lived their lives disobeying Christ, then we can say, they did not love Christ during their lives.

Sinning religion is the enemy of God's truth and man's soul.

GET OFF THE FENCE

FEBRUARY 16, 2012
GET OFF THE FENCE

So, I hear people say that the reason they fail to live in holiness, purity, righteousness is because they are "only human," or because, "I use to be a truck driver," or "... in the military," or "I had a rough childhood." Wow, too bad God isn't up to your challenge. Maybe one day God will measure up to the challenge of sinful humanity or truck drivers or military or rough upbringing. Until then, keep glorifying sin and Satan. In the mean time, don't call yourself a Christian, just say you are a Wannabe Christian.

A PREVIEW OF COMING ATTRACTIONS?

FEBRUARY 15, 2012
A PREVIEW OF COMING ATTRACTIONS?

Let me tell you about something I encountered/experienced recently.

Recently Martha and I visited Jacksonville, N.C. and stayed at a local motel on a Thursday and Friday night. It was a little strange, because the staff on duty was all American (black and white). However, as I was packing the car on Saturday morning I encountered a crowded elevator, filled with men from the Mid-East, speaking Arabic (not to be confused with men from Down East, who have their own dialect). When I stepped into the lobby, it was overflowing with more Arabic speaking Mid-Easterners, mostly male. There was nowhere to sit or even stand in the eating area. I took my luggage to the car, as I wormed my way through the cacophany of men and women wearing Islamic prayer shawls and burkas. Some were even wearing the typical Palestinian, red and white checkered head towel. I put my belongings into the car and wormed my way through Little Gaza.

I gathered the rest of our belongings and escorted Martha to the elevator, where we saw another Mid-Eastern man wearing a jacket with an insignia, saying, Defence Training System. By now the lobby had cleared out and the assembly was in the parking lot, loading onto several vans. While I loaded the car, Martha asked the lady at the desk what was happening.

It was part of a military exercise at Camp Lejeune. These Mid-Easteners were part of a mock city that is used for training our troops.

However, it made me think about the intent of Islam, in wanting to take over the world, by coercion or by bloodbath. It made me think about the Muslim population growth throughout Europe and the future of our own country. It made me realize that the incresing population of people from other countries, who have no concept of freedom and Christian principles, will one day be overshadowed by the strong hand of Islamic intruders who want to overthrow the "Great Devil" of America, and make it Islamic.

No, I am not saying that those men and women in the motel were terrorists. I am saying it gave me an insight as to how it will be one day in our country. Even now we find our own language under fire and our future threatened by a CHANGE in cultural, religious and economic principles. How much more disturbing when the CHANGE comes with force and threat. Nor am I saying that there were no Islamic spies involved in these military games. Why wouldn't they be involved? They can learn our procedures, while we pay them.

Though I greeted some of these people warmly, they responded like I was the intruder.

I love people of other cultures, colors, languages. But it is time to wake up and smell the Coffee Arabica. Trust me, we will not like it when our country becomes Islamic. Just look at the Islamic countries around the world.

CAN WE AGREE?

FEBRUARY 15, 2012
CAN WE AGREE?
I was thinking about some basic points, on which most people is our society should agree. I stated these points succinctly and then quoted a few Bible verses that support these points. This can be shared with a non-believer, as a tool to persuade him to believe on Christ.

#1
Most people believe there is a God. Only a fool would deny God's existence.
Psalms 14:1

(1) ...The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

#2
Most people would agree that they have done something bad in their lifetime, which God calls sin.
Romans 3:23

(23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

#3
The Bible says we will give account for our sins.
Romans 14:12

(12) So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

#4
But God offers forgiveness of sins through His Son, Jesus.
John 1:29

(29) The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

#5
Since God says that the only way to be forgiven and to go to heaven is to make Christ the Lord of our life, then why don't more people get saved?
John 3:36

(36) He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 14:6
(6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:12
(12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Romans 10:9-11
(9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
(11) For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

#1
This brings us back to point number 1.
Psalms 14:1

(1) ...The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

THE BUTers

FEBRUARY 12, 2012
THE BUTers

CONVERSATION
I have a Christian friend who recently told me that he agrees that I preach what the Bible says about God's call to living victoriously over sin and temptation, "BUT," he said to me, "you set the bar too high."

I pointed out that I don't set the bar at all, God set the bar and I simply point to it.

He said very few people can live up to it.

I said no one can live up to it, until they let Christ infill and empower them, then anyone can live up to it.

He acquiesced, then he brought up another baseless "BUT."

He belongs to a group I call the "BUTers."

NO IFS, ANDS OR BUTS ABOUT IT
Ephesians 1:4
(4) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

1 Thessalonians 4:7-8

(7) For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
(8) He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

Hebrews 12:14

(14) Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Hebrews 13:20-21

(20) Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
(21) Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 1:14-16

(14) As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
(15) But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
(16) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1 Peter 2:21-22

(21) For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
(22) Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

DO NOT BE A BUT-er

Proverbs 1:7
(7) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

BE CAREFUL not to BUT your way into defeat and hell. The word, "BUT," is a conjunction, which is often used to introduce an exception or alternative. "BUT" is used in the Bible, 1- To turn from the negative to the positive, 2- To turn from the positive to the negative.

1- From Negative to Positive

Ephesians 2:2-7 (the alternative begins in vs. 4).
(2) Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
(3) Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
(4) But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
(5) Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
(6) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
(7) That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

2- From Positive to Negative

Proverbs 1:7
(7) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

When people deny, refute, reject the promises and directives of God, they often start their argument with a "BUT." To "BUT" out of God's revelation is to "BUT" into defeat and ultimately into hell.

NO MORE, NO LESS

FEBRUARY 7, 2012
NO MORE, NO LESS
Don't argue, just trust and obey. God calls us to Biblical perfection. It does not mean any less than God intends and it does not mean any more than God intends.
Gen 17:1
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

This is grace being demonstrated through self denial.

THANK YOU FOR BEING KIND

FEBRUARY 8, 2012
THANK YOU FOR BEING KIND
Sometimes I
make errors in my online postings. I appreciate those who don't get all bent out of shape when this happens and I addressed the subject on my FaceBook page. That is not really the purpose of this article today. Actually, it was the verses that I attached to my post that I wanted to share with you, since the truths are applicable in so many different situations. First I will give you the FB post and then I will give you the verses.

FB POST
I want to thank my friends for looking beyond the mistakes and typos in my posts and seeing the meaning and message of my posts. Though your kindness seems to be a small thing, it is an indicator of a greater truth. Here are some verses that are well worth our meditation. I hope you enjoy.

(I added) I noticed something about the verses in my comment. Each verse can be read alone and still have great influence. In context they are more powerful, but if a person only read and applied one verse per day or even per week, that person's life would be lifted to a higher level. Remember, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." These verses can ignite and stir faith, they can transform and direct our thinking, our lives, our relationships. If these verses take possession of our hearts, we will be controlled, guided, empowered by the love of God.
(see comment below).

VERSES...

Romans 12:10
(10) Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Ephesians 4:31-32
(31) Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
(32) And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Philippians 2:2-5
(2) Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
(3) Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
(4) Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
(5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Colossians 3:12-17
(12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
(13) Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
(14) And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
(15) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
(16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
(17) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

1 Peter 3:8-12
(8) Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
(9) Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
(10) For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
(11) Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
(12) For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

2 Peter 1:5-11
(5) And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
(6) And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
(7) And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
(8) For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(9) But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
(10) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
(11) For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
