CHRISTIANS OBEY GOD'S COMMANDS, PERIOD

JANUARY 27, 2012
CHRISTIANS OBEY GOD'S COMMANDS, PERIOD.
Most of the people I meet (especially church people), believe that Christians do not (cannot) keep the commandments of God. They basically believe God saves us IN our sin rather than FROM our sin. Of course, God's word contradicts such false doctrine. Consider a few things Jesus said, Paul said and John said.

PASSAGES...
JESUS SAID...
Matthew 12:47-50

(47) Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
(48) But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
(49) And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
(50) For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Luke 11:27-28
(27) And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.
(28) But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

John 14:15
(15) If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14:21-24
(21) He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
(22) Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
(23) Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
(24) He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

John 15:10-14
(10) If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
(11) These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
(12) This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
(13) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
(14) Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

PAUL SAID...
Romans 6:1-2

(1) What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
(2) God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 6:7-22
(7) For he that is dead is freed from sin.
(8) Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
(9) Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
(10) For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
(11) Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(12) Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
(13) Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
(14) For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
(15) What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
(16) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
(17) But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
(18) Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
(19) I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
(20) For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
(21) What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
(22) But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Romans 8:2-3
(2) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
(3) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Romans 8:8-13
(8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
(9) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
(10) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
(11) But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
(12) Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
(13) For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

JOHN SAID...
1 John 3:4-10

(4) Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
(5) And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
(6) Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
(7) Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
(8) He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
(9) Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
(10) In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

1 John 3:22-24
(22) And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
(23) And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
(24) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

1 John 5:1-5
(1) Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
(2) By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
(3) For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
(4) For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
(5) Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

SHARING GREAT TRUTH
Recently I spent a couple of hours with two brothers in the Lord, sharing with them the claims of Christ on our lives. This includes living without sinning, perfect love from a heart purified from all sin, power to live victoriously every day. How exciting to share the Good News of full salvation with people who want to follow God fully.

Yet, how sad that they have never heard about salvation from all sin. It is disturbing for people to find out they have been misinformed all their lives. They have not just been UNinformed, they have been MISinformed. They have been told the lie that God does not deliver from all sin in this life; that they cannot love with perfect, holy, Godlike, self-denying love; that they cannot have their hearts purified completely by the infilling and indwelling of the Holy Spirit and that they cannot live victoriously every day.

It must be equally disturbing to meet one person in a lifetime that tells you what the Bible actually says concerning holiness of heart and life. But we should not be surprised. After sharing the Gospel with people on the streets, in the market place, in my social encounters, I sometimes ask them how many other people have told them about Christ that week, that month, that year or in their lifetime. More and more people are responding that I am the first to ever tell them. With so few people being offered salvation, it is understandable that so few people who are saved are being told the truth about full salvation (holiness of heart and life, entire sanctification).

After I had given the basic principles of full salvation to my two friends, one of them said incredulously, "But that sounds like you are saying we will not sin." I said, "Exactly." However,
Christians do not give up sinning when they get Entirely Sanctified. They quit sinning when they got Saved (or they did not get saved). Justification saves is from sinful behavior and Entire Sanctification saves us from sinful nature. It is that clear and that basic.

BOUNCY BELIEVER

JANUARY 16, 2012
Bouncy Believer waved good-bye to loved ones as he jumped on board the Good Times Express, pulling out of Decision Station. The "GTE" promised fun, friends and freedom from accountability, but its destination was Corruption Chasm. The intoxication raged as the "GTE" sped farther from the fading call of loved one who had boarded The Old Gospel Train, bound for Glory. The deeper the "GTE" rushed into eternal darkness, the more horrific the trip became, with fewer opportunities to transfer to the The Glory Line. One of the great losses in a wrong decision is the loss of hope and the ability to change direction.

PASSAGE and a NOTE...
Proverbs 6:12-23
 (NLT*)
12 What are worthless and wicked people like? They are constant liars,
13 signaling their deceit with a wink of the eye, a nudge of the foot, or the wiggle of fingers.
14 Their perverted hearts plot evil, and they constantly stir up trouble.
15 But they will be destroyed suddenly, broken in an instant beyond all hope of healing.
16 There are six things the LORD hates— no, seven things he detests:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent,
18 a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong,
19 a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family.
20 My son, obey your father’s commands, and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.
21 Keep their words always in your heart. Tie them around your neck.
22 When you walk, their counsel will lead you. When you sleep, they will protect you. When you wake up, they will advise you.
23 For their command is a lamp and their instruction a light; their corrective discipline is the way to life.

DLG note... The journey into darkness becomes more and more tumultuous and the final destination is eternal misery. There will come a time when you cannot make the change, you will not hear the voice of God. Call upon Him now, while you have the opportunity.

*New Living Translation: I chose this translation for this passage because it clarifies some of the terminology. The following shows the KJV word and the meaning as found in Strong; Brown-Driver-Briggs (Hebrew Definitions); Keil & Delitzsch Commentary on the Old Testament and assorted commentaries (Barnes; Clark; JFB). I have only given a few verses, to validate of my use of NLT in this passage.
Vs. 12 Naughty means worthless.
Vs. 12 Froward means distorted, crooked, perverse, lying.
Vs. 14 Frowardness means perversity, fraud.
Vs. 14 Mischief means evil.
Vs. 14 Discord means strife, contention, litigation, contest, quarrel brawling.
Vs. 15 Calamity means oppression, ruin, destruction, (literally) crushing weight.

THE POWER OF LOVE

JANUARY 14, 2012
The Power of Love. Ever notice how a child will obey someone because of love, when they are not motivated by either punishment or privilege? Yes, we should still reprove and reward them, but when they have love for us, it is stronger than discipline. We cannot make them love, but we can provide an atmosphere where love lives (is alive). Love comes more easily to a child. Don't miss that window of opportunity, and don't beat yourself up if they abandon that love as they get older.

And see, this is true in the believer's life also. If we love Him, we keep His commandments, love is the fulfilling of the law.

Romans 13:10

(10)  Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

1 John 5:3

(3)  For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

POOR MULE

JANUARY 12, 2012
So, I was training my mule not to eat or drink. He was doing so well, and then all of a sudden he died. Go figure. (Just something to think about). I posted this on my Facebook, as a teaser and then I gave the following explanation.

BASIC TRUTH...
The same thing would be true for my dog, my cow, my goldfish, my parrot, my chicken, my friends, my enemies, my family and myself. This would be true concerning your mule, dog, cow, goldfish, parrot, chicken, friends, enemies, family or yourself. This is also true for sheep, no matter who owns the sheep.

Too often, the sheep of God think they can eat one time and live forever. In fact, if we do not feed our spiritual man (our inner man, inward man, hidden man), then we die spiritually. If our spirit does not draw from the well of life or drink from the river of living water, then we die. Just as the branches that do not receive nourishment are cut off from the Vine, so we will be cut off.

Some people think they can be strong Christians even if they are not feasting on the word of God, and the Lord Jesus, when, in fact, they will not even be weak Christians, because spiritual existence depends on spiritual subsistence.

Matthew 4:4
(4)  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

John 6:27
(27)  Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

Hebrews 5:12-14
(12)  For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
(13)  For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
(14)  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

John 4:14
(14)  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 7:37-38
(37)  In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
(38)  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

TWO THOUGHTS CONCERNING THE REVELATION

JANUARY 11, 2012
FOUR VIEWS OF INTERPRETING THE BOOK OF REVELATION

Preterism
places the fulfillment of the prophecies of Revelation in the past, specifically during the time of Nero and the Jewish wars with Rome in the first century.

Historcism teaches that Revelation's prophecies have been fulfilled throughout Church History, rather than after the Church Age.

Symbolism teaches that the events of Revelation are allegorical explanations concerning spiritual realities.

Futurism teaches that most of the events of Revelation (from ch. 4) are going to happen after the rapture of the Church. This view obviously espouses the most literal interpretation of the Book of Revelation (actually, the only literal interpretation).

There are variations within each one of these four views. Each view is related to other doctrinal points of view, including Roman Catholicism, Reformed Theology, Covenant Theology and Dispensationalism, among others.

I am a Futurist.

THE OLD TESTAMENT, A MAJOR KEY TO THE BOOK OF REVELATION

Revelation is the last book of the Bible, the final installment of Divinely inspired Scripture, closing out the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments.

Though Revelation is a New Testament book, it cannot be properly understood without a knowledge of the Old Testament, likewise, the Old Testament prophecies cannot be understood without final pieces found in The Revelation. The  Old Testament quotes, imagery, events, character and prophecy are found throughout Revelation.

Matthew,
the most Jewish of the four Gospels, has about 90 references from the Old Testament.

Hebrews,
the most Jewish of the Epistles, has just over 100 references from the Old Testament.

Revelation
has far more OT connections, with about 280 out of 404 verses referencing the Old Testament (encompassing over 500 OT passages).

Not only is the material in Revelation based on O.T. Scripture, the writing style, viewpoint and use of Greek language is Jewish. John was a Jew, who thought and wrote as a Jew, even when he was using the Greek language. Biblical symbolism is not without meaning, and it is not left to subjective and fanciful interpretation. God chose the symbols and gave us the meaning to the symbols. Most of the imagery and symbolism is found and understood by searching the Old Testament, the rest of it is usually explained in the Revelation itself.

Remember, the name of the book is, "The Revelation of Jesus Christ," indicating the purpose to be Divine disclosure, not "Hidden Message."

THE END OF THE WORLD, 2012?

JANUARY 9, 2012
YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THEIR FACES

I announced to the church yesterday that I believe 2012 will be the end of the world. I did not set a date. I was not referring to the return of Christ or the Conflagration or the end of the cosmos. The news media confirms my statement every day and the Bible is the basis for my viewpoint.

NEGATIVE REACTION
I have been thinking about the people who set dates for the end of the world and the return of Christ; I have also been thinking about the extreme negativity that those false prophets raise in society. Society not only rejects the false prophets and their prognostications, they also reject legitimate Biblical prophecies concerning the end times. They say the world will not end, Christ will not return, Judgment Day is not coming. I react to their over reaction by saying, “The world is going to end in 2012.”

FOR SOMEBODY
Those of you who know me (and trust me), know that I am not an end times date setter. Still, I really do believe 2012 will be the end of the world... for some people... at least 56 million people... or as I stated on Facebook, the end of the world for 1 out of every 113 people, which is the present day mortality rate. This rate will rise dramatically if war, famine, pestilence and disease takes place in global proportions.

A FACT OF LIFE
The media reports death daily and the obituaries are dedicated to death. The Bible says, it is appointed unto man once to die, and after that, the judgment (He. 9:27). For those who die, the world ends. In fact, for the people who are close to the deceased, the world as they know it also ends. Death is a killer. Death is a destroyer. Death is a terminator. Death is so final, at least until something better or worse comes along. Death is our enemy, our last enemy (1 Co. 15:26).

IT IS PERSONAL
This is a sobering concept. How many friends do you have on Facebook? How many of your FB friends died last year. How many of your non FB friends died last year? The annual mortality rate, worldwide, has been averaging one out of every 113 people. Death took at least 2 of my 140 FB friends last year, and I also had non FB friends die. Make no mistake: Death is not our friend; Death does not respect age, station, gender, race, education; Death is our enemy. The Good News is: Jesus saves us from our final enemy, Death.

So, before you scoff at the idea that the world is going to end in 2012, remember, it is going to end for someone, maybe a friend, maybe a loved one, maybe yourself. It would be prudent to be prepared for the eventuality of death, because it could be today. As Christian, we should be throwing out the lifeline to those who are lost in sin.

VARIOUS VIEWPOINTS
There are several ways people respond to this issue. Here are a few of those responses. They don't believe in life after death, so they ignore the subject or hopelessly cringe at the idea.
They believe that God does not punish anyone for their sins, so they don't worry about death and judgment.
They believe that they are good enough, and will get to heaven on personal merit.
They believe in a false religion, savior or salvation and find comfort in a false hope.
They believe they are going to die, the world is going to end and they are going to answer for their sins, but are not prepared.
They believe they are ready for death and eternity with God, because they have a living and active faith in Jesus Christ (1 Co. 15:54-55).

If anyone has any questions, or needs to talk about these things, let me know. I will try to help you.

DIG A LITTLE DEEPER

JANUARY 7, 2012
DIG A LITTLE DEEPER...

Have you ever had an itch that needed scratching? Ohhh, that feels soooo good. Sometimes the scratching is more of a pleasant sensation than an itch relief. Some people, and animals, scratch, scratch, scratch until they tear the skin and get infected.

AFFLICTED WITH SELF GRATIFICATION

Spiritually, people do the same. They afflict themselves with self gratification, rather than getting Divine deliverance from their irritation. Scratching is a surface response to a deeper need.

TRUE HEALING

Only Jesus can relieve your deepest misery and satisfy your deepest longings.

Proverbs 14:12-13

(12)  There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
(13)  Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

Romans 10:9-10

(9)  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(10)  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

A TRAGIC TRAGEDY

JANUARY 6, 2012
NOT SIMPLY REDUNDANT.
I chose the title, "A Tragic Tragedy" not to be redundant, but to be emphatic. Let me illustrate and then state my concern.

LET ME ILLUSTRATE

If a person, on a cloud draped night, falls into the churning, inky waters of a fitful sea, without a life jacket, that is a tragedy. If the person refuses to take hold of the lifeline when it is thrown to them in final desperation, and they slip hopelessly into eternal night, that is a tragic tragedy.

THE REASON FOR THIS POST

A friend of mine recently declared his open resistance and rejection to the gospel. It is one thing when a person, a friend, neglects or avoids the gospel, though the outcome is eternally tragic. It is always sad and tragic when a person lives outside of a vital relationship with God through Christ. But the tragedy rises in stark relief when the person knowingly, defiantly rejects God's message and gift of love and life. The tragedy is intensified because they refuse to hear the only words that will deliver them from sin and hell.

A PLEA, TO GOD AND TO YOU

"Father, send your Holy Spirit to speak to my friend, in Jesus name."
Friend, do not drift from passively neglecting Jesus to actively rejecting Jesus. He died for you, rose again and loves you.

A FISHING METAPHOR

JANUARY 5, 2012
A METAPHOR FROM FISHING...

I worked on Sports Fishing boats. We trolled for King and Spanish Mackerel, Bonita, Wahoo, Dolphin (Dorado), Albacore and Bluefish, sometimes making very tight turns, in order to stay in the fish or avoid other boats. We drift fished for Sea Bass, Grouper and Snapper, sometimes with several fisherman crowded into a very small space. Sometimes it was difficult to keep our lines from getting tangled, but failure to keep our lines clear can be costly.

THE APPLICATION
Christians, stay alert, put forth the effort; tangled lives can be very costly.
1 Peter 3:8-11
(8) Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
(9) Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
(10) For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
(11) Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

DISCRIMINATING TASTE

JANUARY 4, 2012
I just can't figure why born again people swallow the teachings of sinning religion

As I think of it, I realize that a person would not swallow something if they did not taste it. This is why some people never receive Christ into their lives, they never "taste" and see that He is good.
Psalms 34:8
(8) O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Adam ate of the fruit because he believed Eve's testimony rather than God's command.
Eve ate of the fruit after looking at it and believing Satan's lie.
So, whether the lie is straight from Satan or packaged in something beautiful, believing the lie, yielding to the lie, destroys us.
So, make no provision for the flesh if you don't want to swallow the poison of Satan's lies. Guard your eye gate, your ear gate, your mouth gate and your heart gate.

Romans 13:9-14
(9) For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
(10) Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
(11) And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
(12) The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
(13) Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
(14) But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

As always, Redeeming Love will deliver us from sinning religion.

DO NOT DEVOUR ONE ANOTHER

JANUARY 4, 2012
As I was looking for the proper name given to various animals, I found out that a group of alligators is called a CONGREGATION or pod. I have seen some human congregations and parishioners that would scare a pod of 'gators. But, God can save from this too.

Galatians 5:14-18
(14) For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
(15) But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
(16) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
(17) For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
(18) But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

FORSAKEN SINS ARE FORGOTTEN SINS

JANUARY 2, 2012
God gives us New Life, New Power for the New Year. If you don't want God to remember the sins of your youth, then don't remind Him by repeating those sins as an adult.

Psalms 25:7

(7)  Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.

Psalms 51:6-13

(6)  Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
(7)  Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
(8)  Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
(9)  Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
(10)  Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
(11)  Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
(12)  Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
(13)  Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

SOMETHING NEW FROM GOD

JANUARY 2, 2012
Here are some thoughts I had while I was thinking about my New Years message.

Throughout history, God has promised His children many New things. Here is a partial list of those New Things, with Scripture passages I hope you find a blessing.

NEW Year, or just ANOTHER Year. God promises NEWNESS, not simply IMPROVEMENT. It is God doing MIRACLES, not simply us doing BETTER. It is Divine TRANSFORMATION, not simply human REFORMATION. God offers us something new.

GOD OF NEW BEGINNINGS
God has always taken the initiative in redeeming a fallen humanity. Man is unable to lift himself from his fallen condition, but by faith we can have a new beginning. The first day of a new week (the 8th day), the family of Noah (8 people) are indications that God is the God of new beginnings.

NEW THING/COVENANT (TESTAMENT)/KINGDOM/WINE SKIN/BODY
God has promised to do a New Thing for His people, whenever they were in need. God has given a New Thing to His people in the past, He is doing a New Thing with the Church today and will do a New Thing in the Millennium and in Eternity The New Thing today includes the New Covenant (grace by faith instead of law); a New Kingdom (a heavenly kingdom for all men, through the Church rather than an earthly kingdom through Israel); Wine Skins (the new abode of the Holy Spirit is the individual believer in the Church, not the nation of Israel); Christ gave His body in sacrifice and now resides in the body of believers, the Church.

New Thing
Numbers 16:30
(30) But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.

Isaiah 42:9
(9) Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

Isaiah 43:19
(19) Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 48:6
(6) Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.

New Covenant (Testament)
Jeremiah 31:31

(31) Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Mark 14:24
(24) And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

1 Corinthians 11:25
(25) After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

2 Corinthians 3:6
(6) Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Hebrews 8:8
(8) For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

Hebrews 8:13
(13) In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Hebrews 9:15
(15) And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Hebrews 10:20
(20) By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

Hebrews 12:24
(24) And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel

New Kingdom
Mark 14:25
(25) Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

Romans 16:25-27
(25) Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
(26) But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
(27) To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. Written to the Romans from Corinthus, and sent by Phebe servant of the church at Cenchrea.

New Wine/Wine Skins
Mark 2:21-22
(21) No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
(22) And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

New Body
Ephesians 2:15

(15) Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

NEW HEART/LIFE/MAN
The New Thing God does in the world is called salvation, which includes regenerating men who are dead in sins and trespasses, forgiving men of their sins, adopting them into His family, cleansing them from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit and empowering them by His Spirit to keep His commandments and do that which is pleasing in His sight. This is accomplished by giving a new heart, new life and making the person into a new man.

New Heart
Ezekiel 11:19

(19) And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

Ezekiel 18:31
(31) Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

Ezekiel 36:26
(26) A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

New Life
Romans 6:4

(4) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Romans 7:6
(6) But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

New Creation
2 Corinthians 5:17

(17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Galatians 6:15
(15) For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

New Man
Ephesians 4:24

(24) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Colossians 3:10
(10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

NEW COMMANDMENT
Though man is not saved by keeping the moral law of God (since man is inherently unable to keep the law of God), the moral law of God is still in effect. God has given us a New Law or Commandment, the Law of Love. Those who are regenerated by the life giving power of the Holy Spirit are enabled to love God with the whole heart and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Those who love God, keep His commandments (Jn. 14:23-24), and love is the fulfilling of the law (Ro. 13:8, 10). This New Commandment is also known as, The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus (Ro. 8:2), The Law of Liberty (Ja. 1:25; 2:12), The Royal Law (Ja. 2:8).

John 13:34
(34) A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

1 John 2:7-8
(7) Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
(8) Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

NEW SONG
With the new relationship and new spiritual condition, God gives man a new viewpoint and attitude filled with joy and hope; He gives us a New Song. The things that make us sing are new and holy. We not only sing for joy, we sing with praise and adoration for our Savior. We sing a song that never gets old or loses its meaning. Our song should be New (fresh) every day because His mercies are new every morning and His compassions fail not.

Psalms 33:3
(3) Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.

Psalms 40:3
(3) And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

(3) And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

NEW NAME
A name introduces and designates a person. Along with our new bodies, God will give us new understanding concerning our own status and glory and we will also have a fuller understanding and appreciation of His glories and identity. He will give us a new name and He will tell us a new name for Himself.

Isaiah 62:2
(2) And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.

Revelation 2:17
(17) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

NEW HEAVENS/EARTH/JERUSALEM
After God destroys this world by fire, He will give us our eternal home, untainted by sin or infirmity.

(17) For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

Revelation 21:1-2
(1) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
(2) And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

ALL THINGS NEW
The eternal, Divine order of life will encompass everything. Our whole existence will be beyond anything we can even imagine.

Revelation 21:5
(5) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

HAPPY OR BLESSED 2012

JANUARY 1, 2012
HAPPY or BLESSED?
I use the same nomenclature as everyone else, "Happy New Year." But "happy" is dependent on favorable happenings, chance, circumstances. Sometimes happiness eludes us.

It is far better to be BLESSED, "Divinely Favored." In Christian parlance, JOY and GLADNESS are rooted in BLESSEDNESS.

Some people are not having a Happy New Year because of tragedy, but for them, there is still the possibility of being blessed, in the midst of their troubles. Remember and love your suffering friends.

BENEFITS OF PLAYTIME

DECEMBER 24, 2011
SHORT BUT IMPORTANT
... One of the great benefits of spending time with, playing with our children is the joy it brings them at the moment. It is a good time for them to learn "life principles" and "relationship skills" but it also gives them joy and fulfillment in the moment and it is good for their physical development. It is also good for the relationship with them and the parent.
